Belgian Sour Power!
It’s finally here! This Saturday, June 7th, The Belgian Import Festival arrives at Bruz Midtown. The Festival will feature 20 Belgian breweries and importers, represented by their owners and brewers and, of course, their amazing beers! It’s going to be the best beer fest of the summer, and we at Bruz Beers are proud to have been chosen to host this amazing event!
Sour Beers
When we think of authentic sour beers, Belgian Lambics and Flanders ales immediately come to mind. This Saturday’s Belgian Import Festival will feature a host of world-class Belgian sours.
Brasserie Lindemans, one of the original Belgian Gueuze breweries, will be pouring a selection of their fine Lambic beers. Lindemans Cuvee René Gueze is their classic Gueze Lambic, tart, complex and beautifully flavorful. Lindemans will also have their classic cherry Kriek and raspberry Framboise available for tasting. They will also be pouring their lighter-bodied fruit beers, including their Peach, Strawberry and mixed-pack fruit Lambics.
Trappist Orval will be bringing its unique and famous Orval–which features a light tartness from the addition of Brettanomyces wild yeast.
Brasseries Timmermans, the oldest Lambic brewer in the world will be pouring several unique beers. Their Lambicus Blanche, resembles the old-style Lambics from the Pajottenland, a blend of tart Lambic and wheat ale. At 4.5%, it is soft and refreshing with hints of spicy coriander and orange zest. Timmermans will also be sampling their one-of-a-kind. Timmermans Lambicus Kriek Black Pepper is a traditional Lambic beer aged on whole cherries and delicately spiced with black pepper. The Lambicus Framboise Hibiscus is a Lambic aged on raspberries and flavored with hibiscus.
Brouwerij Rodenbach, the gold standard of Flanders red ales, will be offering three of their finest beers. Rodenbach Classic is a younger blend of different aged beers. Rodenbach Grand Cru, the brewery’s top-of-the-line beer features longer-aged beers in the blend. In addition, Rodenbach Alexander, is a unique tart fruit beer which is macerated on cherries.
Brouwerij Verhaeghe Victe, another prominent Flanders ale producer, will be serving their famous Duchesse de Bourgogne, along with two versions aged on cherries–Duchesse Cherry and Duchesse Red.
The Belgian Import Festival runs from 12:00 to 3:00 this Saturday, June 7th, at Bruz Beers Midtown, 1675 West 67th Avenue in Denver.
And don’t forget to stroll into Bruz and sample some of our own sour beers in corked bottles and on draft. Da’Vine Revenant, a fouder-aged sour beer aged on Marquette wine grapes, and Whoa Blackberry, a golden sour with blackberries will be available. We will also have our Flanders-style red ale, Oak Marionette, and our fouder-aged tart Saison Ghost in the Wood. Rounding out the Bruz sour selection is our juicy Peach Grisette. Try one or try them all!
Santé!
