Taste the Best Belgian Monastery Beers!

It’s finally here! This Saturday, June 7th, The Belgian Import Festival arrives at Bruz Midtown. The Festival will feature 20 Belgian breweries and importers, represented by their owners and brewers and, of course, their amazing beers! It’s going to be the best beer fest of the summer, and we at Bruz Beers are proud to have been chosen to host this amazing event!

Monastery Beers

When we think of Belgian beer, monks and monastery beers immediately come to mind, as they are the bedrock of Belgian beer culture. The Belgian Import Festival will feature a host of Trappist, Abbey and other breweries focused on monastery beer styles.

Trappist Westmalle, the original Belgian Trappist brewery, will be pouring all three of its authentic and iconic Trappist ales. Westmalle Extra is their original refectory beer, a low-alcohol refresher brimming with flavor. Westmalle Dubbel is considered by many to be defining Trappist Dubbel, dark, rich and flavorful. Like the Dubbel, Westmalle Tripel is the standard-bearer for Belgian Tripels and the brewery’s pride.

Trappist Orval will be bringing its unique and famous Orval–a totally unique beer that, in the opinions of many, may be the best beer in the world.

Trappist Rochefort, which make some of the very best Trappist ales will be bringing its Rochefort 6–an elegant and delicate blond ale, Rochefort 8–a 9.2% dark strong ale with classic grainy and fruity characteristics, and the amazing Rochefort 10–an 11.3% Grand Cru that is deeply complex with caramel, spice and fruit notes.

St. Bernardus, one of the top Abbey breweries, will be bringing five beers. Their flagship Abt. 12 is a dark and complex miracle in a glass, registering 10% alcohol; their Tripel, at 8.0%, is smooth and golden with a large fluffy head; St. Bernardus Wit and Tokyo beers are dry, clean and flavorful Witbiers; St. Bernardus Kombine is a full-flavored blond beer brewed in the style of a Munich Helles, using Weihenstephan lager yeast and no filtration.

Abbaye Val-Dieu will be bringing three of their best–the delicate and flavorful 9% Triple, with its soft bitterness and aromatic hops, their rich and powerful Grand Cru, a 10.5% masterpiece of complexity, and their amazing Blanche De Liege Rosé, a 4.4% raspberry Witbier.

Brasserie St. Feuillien, a classic Abbey brewery, will be pouring their Abbey Tripel, which is clean, fruity and spicy; their signature St. Feuillien Grand Cru, a 9.5% golden ale with amazing complexity and finesse; the Grisette Bio Blanche, a Witbier and their Christmas offering, Cuvee de Noel.

The Belgian Import Festival runs from 12:00 to 3:00 this Saturday, June 7th, at Bruz Beers Midtown, 1675 West 67th Avenue in Denver.

In addition to the world-class lineup of fine Belgian beers, there will be live music and four food trucks!

See you Saturday
