Charlie Gottenkieny (Co-Owner & Head Brewer) has been brewing more than 27 years and won more than a hundred competition medals-including two AHA Homebrewer of the Year Awards. He has taught brewing and beer styles at several community colleges, has spoken publicly at beer conferences and events, is a nationally recognized beer judge, and will be your workshop guide.

Homebrewing Workshops: A selection of workshops (by level) designed to give new homebrewers, intermediate and advanced brewers all the knowledge and skills they need to produce high-quality beer.
Basic Homebrewing Basic Homebrewing is for you if you are new to homebrewing and want to brew high-quality beer in your kitchen with minimal equipment. During this hands-on workshop we will look at the basics of beer brewing and brew an actual batch of beer during the session. Our objective is for you to experience the brewing process from start to finish- including working from recipes, brewing with malt extracts, fermenting your beer, maintaining a sanitary brewing environment and bottling your beer.
Intermediate Homerewing Intermediate Homebrewing is for extract homebrewers with some experience who want to take their game to the next level. During this workshop, we will explore:
Recipe formulation Malt types and their uses Water treatment Hop varieties and calculations Yeast types, yeast starters and wild yeasts Fermentation – primary/secondary, temperatures, and management Bottling and kegging Equipment acquisitions and upgrades Homebrewing resources

All-Grain Homebrewing All-grain brewing provides you with a higher degree of control over the brewing process and the ability to produce professional-quality beers at home. During the All-Grain Homebrewing workshop, we will brew an actual batch of all-grain beer, allowing you to experience the process from start to finish. Topics include:
All-grain recipes and how to formulate them All-grain equipment What happens during the mashing process Types of mashes and mash stages First and second runnings Controlling your mash to get the results you want Sparging and sparge methods Boiling, hop additions, hot and cold break Fermentation techniques Troubleshooting common problems
